Rescue Groups for Lost Pets

Lost Pets

What to do if I've lost my pet?

  1. ASAP - Hang up signs with a picture and contact information. A "Reward"  placed on the sign may get your pet home sooner.

  2. Message us on our Facebook Page with details, phone number, microchip, pets name, and any special markings.

  3. Signs should be placed in the subdivision, at convenience stores, grooming facilities, and veterinary clinics.

  4. Try to following websites to find your pet:

    1. County Pets - Harris County Pets is an open-intake, municipal pet adoption and resource center that serves the residents and pets of unincorporated Harris County.

    2. Pet Harbor - Lost, found, and adoptable animals.

    3. Pet Finders - Petfinder is an online, searchable database of animals who need homes. It is also a directory of nearly 11,000 animal shelters and adoption organizations across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

    4. Lost Dog United States - If your dog is gone, lost or stolen, you can post a report easily and for free. Your SOS will then immediately be broadcasted on partner websites, social networks Lost Dog Facebook, and by email to all subscribers of the e-mail alerts.

  5. If your pet is a purebred dog, contact the local rescue organization of the breed to be on the lookout. For example, if you have a boxer, contact the Boxer Rescue group. These groups are generally contacted when a pure-bred dog comes into the shelter.

  6. If your pet repeatedly escapes, consider microchipping your pet for permanent identification.

Donations

In conjunction with our rescue activities, educating the community regarding responsible and humane ownership is another aspect of our mission. This includes informing the public of the current overpopulation crisis, the benefit of the spay/neuter program, and the dangers of irresponsible breeding.

Donations are appreciated in all forms food, leashes/collars, bedding (our fosters can always use these) - no donation is too small.

Foster homes and volunteers to help with transportation and fund-raising events are always needed and greatly appreciated.

The Veterinary Care Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization where you can make donations to our veterinary hospital in memory of your pet or loved one. These funds are then requested for clients who have fallen on hard times and cannot afford the medical care needed for their pets.

Thank you for your donation!
